Belgium

Greetings from Paris! We are currently in the middle of our whirlwind of summer visitors and traveling, so I haven’t been able to write a new post for a few days. We’ve been so busy and I’ve checked off two more countries from my list (three if you count 10 minutes driving through the Netherlands).

One of Will’s friends from Pittsburgh came to visit us on the 4th of July and we got the chance to show him some of our favorite things about Cologne. We had three days in Germany and then we took a road trip to Brussels, Belgium.

Brussels was a really neat town, with a lot of old European charm. We first visited a museum called “Mini-Europe” which features scaled-down models of the major buildings/monuments in each country of the European Union (Brussels is the capital of the European Union). The day we were there, they happened to be cleaning the mini Eiffel Tower...just my luck.

After Mini-Europe, we rode the metro into town and visited the Grand Place, which is the main city square. There are lots of little shops and cafés lining the cobblestone streets-very quaint! Although we didn’t try any of their famous “frites,” we did try some Belgian beer and waffles, which were fantastic.

We are still in Paris for a few more days and I’ve taken so many photos, I might have 10 posts for France—stay tuned. Bisoux!

P.S. Germany won the World Cup last night!! I bet it was crazy in Cologne!
