We made it! After a long
day in transit, we are finally in our new home in Cologne.
The day began early when
Will’s parents helped us transport all of our bags (and Sophie) to the airport.
Sophie was a trooper and survived the entire journey without any issues. She
survived two TSA screenings, a two-hour layover, and a seven-hour
trans-Atlantic flight without even much meowing. I think it was honestly more
stressful for us because we were constantly worrying that she might be
uncomfortable or have an accident.
When we arrived in Düsseldorf, we collected all of our bags and one of
Will’s coworkers drove us to the apartment. He also brought us some groceries
because most of the stores are closed on Sunday—a very welcome surprise! After
unloading our bags and a quick nap, another coworker came and took us out for
lunch at a local Turkish restaurant. Our apartment is located in Mülheim,
which is a predominately Turkish
neighborhood.
After lunch (and another
nap), we walked around the neighborhood for a bit and strolled along the Rhine.
It was a little cold and rainy today, but it was nice to get some fresh air.
Sophie seems to be
settling in well and once we begin to unpack, we will settle in too. Tschüss!

Glad you and Will and Sophie made it safely and the journey was relatively uneventful. I look forward to hearing all about your escapades.
